DC Charter School Alliance’s Executive Director Statement on Trump Administration Action

WASHINGTON, DC– Following President Donald Trump’s announcement that he will deploy federal forces to Washington, DC, Ariel Johnson, Executive Director of the DC Charter School Alliance, released the following statement:

“The administration’s unprecedented action infringes on the rights and autonomy of DC’s residents. Our city is safest when community organizations partner with MPD, and today’s announcement from the White House threatens to roll back the progress that has been made to ensure that all students can live and learn safely. We stand with city leaders and our powerful community of educators as they work to protect our students, families, and communities from unnecessary overreach by the federal government. Student safety is our greatest  priority, and the DC Alliance is committed to working with our local and federal agencies to ensure students can live and play in our city without fear.”
