Member Services
The DC Charter School Alliance School Support work helps build a high-quality charter school sector by identifying challenges schools face and providing resources to address those challenges.
We focus on three main types of services:
Programming and Resource Development. We design programs for schools to share resources, create crowd-sourced resources to share working strategies, and produce one-two pagers on navigating DC agencies’ compliance processes. We also host office hours and trainings and partner with other organizations to expand access to existing high-quality support. Topics align closely with school needs and cyclical deadlines.
Responding to Immediate Needs. New laws are passed that impact school operations. Schools face emergencies. Leaders reach out every day for technical assistance on a variety of topics. We respond to the evolving needs of charter schools in DC and ensure phone calls, emails, and texts are answered and schools are connected to quality resources, so they can continue to focus on educating and supporting their students.
Convenings and Opportunities to Collaborate. We bring leaders together in a variety of formats to discuss important topics affecting DC charter schools, plan collective advocacy, and problem-solve for common challenges. These convenings include in-person fall and spring LEA Leaders’ Summits, monthly virtual leaders meetings, and ad hoc virtual leader-to-leader meetings on hot topics.
The DC Charter School Alliance School Support team covers a wide range of issue areas, essentially everything a school does: Budget and finance, grants, health and safety, employment law, compliance, academic strategy, human resources, operations, data, accountability, leadership development, governance, facilities, hiring, compensation, community engagement, student recruitment, attendance, communications, emergency planning, special education, enrollment, and more.
