DC Charter School Alliance Applauds Continued Investment in Public Education
Washington, DC — Today, the DC Charter School Alliance applauded Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Council of the District of Columbia for approving an FY26 budget that continues to invest in public charter schools and DC’s public education system:
“We applaud Chairman Mendelson and the Council for supporting increasing the UPSFF, educator pay, and charter school facilities in this incredibly challenging fiscal environment. We thank Mayor Bowser for prioritizing education in her budget. DC’s leaders consistently stand with our students and school communities so that they have the resources they need to thrive, and we look forward to continuing to find commonsense solutions as the city’s fiscal outlook continues to be challenging in the years ahead.”
The FY26 budget approved by the Council includes key pillars of the DC Charter School Alliance’s advocacy agenda, such as a 2.74% increase to the UPSFF, a 3.1% increase for charter school facilities funding, $30.8M for charter school educator pay increases, additional funding for Ward 5 and 8 Advanced Technical Centers, and continued funding for the DC School Connect Program which is a highly effective program that provides students with a safe, reliable way to get to and from school.
