Instant Decision Day Triumph: Thurgood Marshall Academy Celebrates Stellar Outcome
College applications are notoriously difficult and stressful for students, but Instant Decision Day lets students interview admissions officers and receive immediate responses on their admittance, which eliminates the pressure-filled waiting period of the traditional application process.
This year, Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter School held Instant Decision Day last week on Wednesday, December 6, and saw 27 colleges and universities in attendance. The day was a resounding success, with 80% of the senior class at Thurgood Marshall Academy receiving acceptances from one or more schools! In total, more than 150 students received acceptances from the colleges in attendance.
After having their 8th-grade year interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, these students’ perseverance shows the resiliency of DC’s charter school students and how important it is to have a student-centric approach in the classroom. The school’s Instant Decision Day results demonstrate how hard Thurgood Marshall Academy works for its students to give them the tools they need to succeed.
The success of this year’s event not only shows that streamlining the college admissions processes is possible but also that providing students clarity about their academic future is a great way to keep them engaged on their path to higher education.
Congrats to all of the seniors who accepted offers from the colleges and universities at this year’s Instant Decision Day, and kudos to Thurgood Marshall Academy for leading by example!
